Multi-Org is a server-side (applications and database) enhancement that enables multiple business units in an enterprise to use a single installation of Oracle Applications products while keeping transaction data separate and secure. The Multi-Org enhancement uses native database views to build a security layer on top of a single installation of Oracle Applications. In Oracle Applications Release 11i, the following products support Multi-Org capabilities:

         Cash Management

Order Management, Shipping Execution and Release Management

         Payables

         Property Manager

         Projects

         Purchasing

HI ,

Good First hand Definition. After reading your blog I was referring to
http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B25516_06/current/acrobat/115multorg.pdf and guessed that should not we use term “multiple organizations” like Internal, Accounting, and HR instead of “multiple business units” because the document says that organizations are part of business Unit(generally). I want your advice as you are exp. Prof.

Best Regards
Anurag

Multi Org means Multi organization – you mean if the company has spread in more than one country, at that you need to set up the Multi Organization. In other word if the company has sister company or some other branches in same country or territory then used to set up this Multi Org.
it has five steps as follows
1)- BUSINESS GROUP – Which deal with HRMS module, and It is the highest level in the ORG Structure.
2)- LEGAL ENTITY – Which deal with Tax Entries Govt. Reporting authorities.
3)- SET OF BOOKS – which deal with 3C’s that is Chart of Account, Calendar, and Currencies).
4)- OPERATING UNIT – Deal with 5 Sub Ledger modules by name AP/AR/GL/PO/OM.
5)- INVENTORY ORGANIZATION – which deal with INV/BOM/WIP/MS-MRP.
